Nearly 1 in 5 U.S adults live with a mental illness and research shows that each year approximately:

44,965 American’s complete suicide.

Texas Panhandle Centers offers Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses designed to improve the general public’s views of mental health and substance use problems and link people to professional help for their mental health or substance use problems.

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based program that provides community members with the knowledge and skills to identify and help those affected by mental health and substance use issues.

You can make a difference! Those who take the 8-hour MHFA course will feel confident when applying 5-step action plan that can assist students, loved ones, colleagues, neighbors and other community members on how cope with mental health or substance use problems.
