Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
- The Maintenance Technician I – III performs moderately complex work in maintenance, grounds keeping and building-construction trades and in the Motor Pool
- The technician will be required to work between departments including maintenance and motor pool
- In order to ensure effective and safe facility operations the Technician’s work involves maintaining and repairing buildings/residential facilities, utility systems, furnishings, grounds, stationary equipment, motorized equipment and minor vehicle repairs and maintenance
- The technician should have skill and knowledge of HVAC and Plumbing systems
- Flexibility in work hours is needed, including on-call duty as assigned
- The Technician works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Director with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment and performs work as assigned
Required qualifications to be successful in the job:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent of high school graduate, plus two (2) years experience in building maintenance/repair, of electrical, plumbing, waste drain, carpentry, painting, flooring, welding, HVAC systems and minor vehicle maintenance and repair
- One (1) year of vocational/technical training in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required work experience
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment
- Ability to work with simple drawings, schematics, or sketches; to perform routine maintenance and to follow instructions
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:
- EPA approved Technician Certification for Refrigerant use
- Texas Department of Agriculture Structural Pest Control Certified Applicator License
