Location & Program:Amarillo, Texas – IDD Crisis Respite
Salary Range:
Salary: $15.66/hr
Shift Available: Full-time
Shift Available: 2 pm – 10 pm with rotating days off
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
- The Direct Support Professional V (DSP V) implements and monitors crisis intervention plans diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental Disorders
- Demonstrates skills in working with consumers who display aggressive, disruptive, non-compliant, and/or self-absorbed behaviors
- Provides behavioral interventions and reinforcements of Behavior Support Plans in Crisis Respite
- Conducts direct observations, and collects, summarizes and documents data
- Must be able to address crisis situations/behaviors with good judgement, self-control and in a calm, collected manner
- Responsibilities will also include preparations of meals and maintaining a clean environment
- Additional training in crisis management will be required
- Additionally, if the crisis respite is not occupied, this position will be required to work in residential services at any relief group home
Required qualifications to be successful in the job:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of eighth grade reading-comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test; or
- One semester (12 semester hours) of accredited college work
- Some experience assisting in arts and crafts, music, education, recreation, and vocational, and physical/occupational therapy
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:
- Some experience working with individuals with IDD diagnoses
- At least one (1) year of experience providing behavioral intervention services in a therapeutic environment to individuals who display aggressive, disruptive, non-compliant, and/or self-abusive behavior
